Christiane Newell graduated summa cum laude from William Peace University in May 2015. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a concentration in Strategic Communications and minors in psychology and graphic design.

 

As a student at William Peace University, Christiane found her passion in the communication field, both in and out of the classroom. She was a writer and web editor for WPU’s student-led newspaper, The Peace Times, and wrote for WPU’s magazine, the Peace Bulletin. Christiane also worked with William Peace University's Office of Engagement, where she designed several promotional pieces and copy edited articles, press releases, playbills, brochures and other promotional material.

 

Prior to graduation, Christiane completed an internship with the NC Department of Agriculture's Public Affairs division, where she focused on promoting the NC State Fair. There, she gained practical experience in marketing, journalism, and public relations.

 

As a student, Christiane was active in leadership within the Peace community. She served on the Student Government Association as Chief Administrative Officer, and was a Presidential Ambassador, a member of the William Peace University Singers (glee club), Vice President and member of Vocal MasterPEACE (an a cappella singing group), and a PACT (Peace and Community Together) Advisory Board member. Now as an alumna, Christiane remains a leader in the Peace community. She serves as Secretary of the Young Alumni Council and a continues to be a writer and advisory board member for the Peace Bulletin.

 

Christiane most recently worked for the Office of Governor Pat McCrory as a public relations officer, where her main responsibilities included monitoring the media and creating analytical reports, writing press releases and sustaining 24/7 availability. There, she gained experience working for a public official and effectively conveying Governor McCrory’s message.

 

In her free time, Christiane enjoys singing and volunteering at Saving Grace Animals for Adoption in Wake Forest, NC.
